Course MaintenanceThank you to everyone who helped clear up the back loop of our course for running this summer! It's still a work in progress, but the course should be in good enough shape to handle our Tuesday aerobic workouts. If you would like to be part of a rotation to keep the course mowed this season, please contact Mr. McLain. Next Week's ScheduleBelow is the schedule for the week. You'll also find photos of where athletes can park/be dropped off at each off-campus location. Monday 6/16 (7:00-8:30AM): Easy run at Soccer Park. Tuesday 6/17 (7:00-9:00AM): Fartlek at back loop of course. Wednesday 6/18 (7:00-8:00AM): Fun Day (Slip n' Slide) at high school. Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet/sudsy, and consider bringing a towel and/or change of clothes. Thursday 6/19 (7:00-8:30AM): Easy run at City Park. Friday 6/20 (7:00-9:00AM): Long run at St. Rose of Lima. An optional team breakfast will follow at 9:30AM at Hoeckele's. Training PlansIndividual training plans with detailed elements for each day of training have been shared with athletes on Google Classroom. If an athlete can make it to training at the scheduled time but would still like to complete the work for the day on their own, they can look there for what we will be doing. Things to Bring to PracticeBesides running shoes and appropriate attire, athletes should make sure to bring the following items to practice with them:
Impact TestingDespite the astronomically low (7 in 100,000) concussion rate in cross country, all high school athletes are required to complete the Impact Test to establish a baseline of cognitive function in the case of a potential concussion. The test is completed in the high school computer lab and takes approximately 30-45 minutes. This year's tests will be available on Monday July 28 and Tuesday July 29 from 11AM-2PM. Athletes may come to school to take the test at any point in that time frame on either of those two days. If those times do not work, you will need to contact Jack Rigdon, our new athletic director, to schedule an alternative time to take the test. Team BreakfastsWe currently have the following families volunteered to host team breakfasts this summer: 7/11 (Amanda Warren) 8/1 (Michelle Hadler) If you would like to help with either of these breakfasts, please reach out to them (You can send a direct message to anyone in our parent GroupMe). We are still looking for someone to possibly host a breakfast on 7/18. This would mostly be for our boys, as many of our girls will be at our team camp during this time. Team Camp Spots Still AvailableSpots are still available for both our boys and girls team camps. The goal of these camps is to immerse runners in what our team culture stands for, to bring our runners together and build team unity, and to equip athletes with the skills to be healthier and happier runners and human beings.
You can find more info about the boys camp here, and the girls camp here, but if you have additional questions feel free to reach out to Mr. McLain. If you haven't signed up but would like to attend, please contact Mr. McLain. Sign-ups for the camps will close June 30 (or earlier if capacity is reached). |
