First Week of SeasonNext week we officially get underway with our season. As a reminder, athletes must accumulate 14 practices before they are allowed to race, so it is imperative to try to make it to practice if at all possible. Monday 8/11 (7:00-8:30AM): Neural Day at School Tuesday 8/12 (7:00-9:00AM): Long Run at St. Rose of Lima Wednesday 8/13 (3:30-5:15PM): Fun day/recovery run at school. We'll also distribute uniforms to underclassmen. Thursday 8/14 (3:30-5:15PM): Easy Run at Legion Lake Trail. Friday 8/15 (3:30-4:45PM): Pre-Race Workout at School. Saturday 8/16 (7:00-11:00PM): Midnight Marathon at Course. SpikesIf athletes plan to race in spikes this season, they should begin bringing them to practice along with their training shoes starting next week. Most of our volume will still be in trainers, but we'll begin introducing more and more time in spikes. Parent MeetingJust a reminder that the parent meeting for all fall athletes will this Sunday at 6pm in the school gym. This is for parents only. We'll start with all other sports and discuss the parent/athlete handbook before breaking off with our team. That time will be meant to discuss any questions or concerns. Parents should try to read through the information page shared on GroupMe prior to the meeting. PhysicalsThis is a final call for physicals and pre-participation forms. Until a completed copy of both forms is submitted, athletes will not be allowed to practice. Athletes must complete 14 practices before they can race. We don't want anyone to miss a meet because of missing paperwork. Forms may be either be submitted to the school office or to Mr. McLain. The current physical form can be found here (please only submit the final page). The pre-participation form can be found here. Media DayFall Sports Media Day is Saturday, August 16 from 9-11 am on the football field. This is an opportunity for team photos to be taken as well as photos with individual athletes and/or groups. Runners should wear their uniform for the team picture. If an athlete is more comfortable, they may wear compression shorts under their uniform shorts. Course BuildOur first course build day is also Saturday 8/16 from 4-6PM. The goal is to accomplish the following tasks: -mow the course and stage area -measure course -weedeat and trim branches along course -fill/level any holes or uneven spots on the course -begin setting posts and boundaries along course Signups for duties will be available at the parent meeting and online afterwards.
